Missing/Inaction

Dolphin Synchronicity

My summer Sundays usually start with a walk along the shores of the mighty Atlantic Ocean.  Yesterday I was shocked to be joined by a school of dolphins who were soaring into the air in a remarkable show of synchronicity.  It was honestly like they were in training for the synchronized swimming event in the upcoming Olympics.  We rarely get to see dolphins on the shores of New York so I decided to take a series of action shots.  iPhone users will understand that in bright daylight you point your iPhone at where you think the action is happening and hope for the best.   Hence the photo above of a once in a lifetime spectacle.  What?  I missed it completely?  How could that happen?

The point of the story?   Business users often point their business intelligence tools blindly at where they think the action is happening within their data and have similar outcomes.   Action Apps and the Actian Cloud Action Platform are designed to avoid this.

A Pizza The Action….App

We’ve done such a great job on the messaging of Action Apps that now every time one of my friends sees an app that combines real time information and activity it’s immediately labelled an Action App.   The latest addition to the hall of fame is the “Domino’s Tracker” App.   It keeps the diner updated every step of the process, from the order acknowledgement right through to delivery.   It’ll even let you know if “Martin” dropped your pizza taking it out of the oven and has to redo it.  It’s a remarkably simple app that had me, and some drunk and hungry friends, enthralled for 24 minutes last Friday night.  This app turned the mundane task of ordering a pizza into something I’m rather looking forward to doing again .  Transforming the work life with business equivalents is really what Action Apps is all about!

PS: No kangaroos were injured in the making of the pizza, Marty!
